The Carbon Literacy Resources Library

Welcome to our Resources Pages.  These pages lay out a wealth of resources for you to use in advocating, communicating and delivering the key messages of Carbon Literacy.

Carbon Literacy is being delivered by scores of people and organisations working in partnership with the project including schools, employers, universities, community groups, hospitals, individual trainers and charities. To that end we want to be able to help our partners deliver the best training that they can and support this by making as many resources available to our partners as possible.

Resources range from “starters for ten” to help you communicate to non-expert audiences or advocate for a project internally to the detailed information, exercises and resources to support you in developing your training response and help you deliver Carbon Literacy to your audience.

Getting started:
We have organised information so that you can use it in various ways. The sections below should be self explanatory, but drop a mail to info@carbonliteracy.com if all is not clear or you have any specific queries or resources we can add.

We are well aware that there is still even more we can do to make this information more useful and accessible and we intend to continue to develop our resources, however generally we think it is better to share some of what we’ve got so that it can help you right now and then improve it as we go along.

We hope you find these resources useful and they support you in participating in the Carbon Literacy Project.

Rights in original materials and resources linked to from here obviously belong to the original authors, however this resource is held under a Creative Commons 2 Licence. This means that the information provided here is open source and we wish and indeed encourage you to use it. However, if you reproduce text from here in any substantial form, please credit the Carbon Literacy Trust as its owner and if it is being used for commercial purposes outside of the Carbon Literacy Project please seek permission from Cooler Projects CIC to do so, which in most cases we will grant.

 

Our Resource Library

Over the course of the project we have come across a mass of different resources that could aid in the communication of Carbon Literacy. The challenge is how to organise these so that they are reasonably easy to navigate meaningfully for most users, and at same time allow you to find something you need quickly.

We have responded to this challenge by organising web-based resources in three different ways.

 

The Carbon Literacy Standard “Section by Section” Structure

These resources are organised in exactly the same way as The Carbon Literacy Standard. If you are struggling to explain or demonstrate [or meet the requirements of] a particular section of the Standard (when completing your  Criteria Checker for example) simply find the corresponding section of the Resources and click through. The “Training Day” Structure

Resources organised according to the structure of a typical training day. We have organised the Resources this way to help Carbon Literacy trainers and anyone else structuring a training initiative to find resources to support their activities for a particular section of the course – such as icebreakers or exercises to keep participants involved after lunch etc. Simply find the corresponding section of the Resources and click through. The Audience Structure

We talk often about the three audiences for Carbon Literacy – those who live, those who work, and those who study. Some resources are particularly relevant to a business, but much less so to a community group, so in this structure we have organised our resources so that you can look at what is particularly relevant to the audience that you are communicating with, without seeing resources of interest to a different audience.
